Room XV: Gallipoli

Room XV:
Gallipoli
Room XV's 'Trenches'

Yesterday everyone in Room XV had to go into the trenches of Gallipoli, as part of our Inquiry investigation.

We were all pretending that we were World War 1. It was so fun. Also it felt real with all the sounds from World War 1 playing in the background.

We tasted what they made in World War 1. It’s called Hard Tack which tasted like bread. I’ve seen Hard Tack before because it’s on this game that I’ve played before.

Most of us imagined that the trenches were real. It’s was extremely  dangerous. Three of us died from the snipers and ‘big as’ machine guns. Last but not least we had to write letters to our parents and family. We had to write letters back to back to our loving families.

It was so fun I wish you could of been there.

Room XV’s Art with Whaea Dagma

Room XV’s
Art
Kapriyani, Elisa and JoArnia study their subject
with
Whaea Dagma

On Thursday Room XV went to Room 22 to do art with Whaea Dagma.

When we got there we had to sit down on the high and low chairs. We each got a white piece of paper. With the paper we had to draw flowers that were different.

William makes his mark!
When we were drawing our cool flowers, Whaea Dagma played some music for us. It was really fun because we did three pieces of artwork. We drew flowers that our artist drew. Her name was Georgia O’Keeffe.

On our third black piece of paper we were learning how to blend colours. When we blended the colours it looked so cool.
Whaea Dagmar shows the way.

When we left we felt a bit upset because we wanted to stay and do more art, but we felt proud of ourselves.

ROOM XV
The Legend Begins!

Welcome to Sylvia Park School’s Room 15 2015 blog.
To celebrate this first entry, here is a letter from one of our new students, Bosco. All of Room 15’s awesome students have written letters, and have shown that they have really taken to expressing themselves in written form.

To Mr Cowlrick,

I am writing to you to tell you all the amazing stuff I did in the holidays.

In the holidays I had a wonderful time at the Fun Fest. I went with my sister and her friend, and also my mum. All of us had such an amazing time going on cool rides.

In the holidays I also went to my sister’s waka ama because she was a competitor. The whole of my family went. Also we stayed at a cool motel. On the last day went to Hamilton town square. The town square was cool because it had a big chess table. Me and my sister had a game. We stayed at a wonderful motel in Hamilton. This motel was lots of fun.

Thank you very much for reading what I did in the holidays.

Regards

Bosco
