Amazing Students in Action!

Room 18 continued its march to greatness right up until the final whistle! Every student believed that they could succeed and they did.

The entirety of Room 18 managed to enter the 2014 ‘AFX Hall of Fame’ – an achievement to be proud of. Achieving in the Field of Excellence is the goal that all students strive for, and Room 18'ers made sure they did.

Awesome.

The top five students were all rewarded with the honour of their achievements… as well as a certificate and a bespoke lollie jar; rewards too great to count!

Also, Alyssa and Geshvin received the Awards for Excellence in Room 18. They walked the stage at the end of year SPS Prize Giving to celebrate their hard work. Maranatha also received the greatest improvement award, but was on holiday in Oz.

Phaydon received the Year 6 prize for most outstanding Art Student at the prize giving. Alyssa also received the runner-up award for the best Year 6 speech. Truly outstanding!

Room 18 in 2014 has shone brightly and all students have achieved as never before.

Most of the Room 18’ers, and other good citizens from all over SPS hit Rainbows End to celebrate having done a good job and been a good citizen throughout 2014. Milk monitors, travelwise citizens and students who held extra responsibilities throughout the year all got to have a fantastic day at the place ‘where the fun begins!’

The Room 18’ers once again got to find out how amazing the game of Australian Rules Football is when the NZ ambassadors of the game returned.

Champions of Fire!

This year’s athletics day at SPS allowed all SPS’ers to shine brightly as they all got to show off their enthusiasm and talent.

Students participated in the 100, 200 and 400 metre sprints, as well as events including shot put and discus. The students learnt that participating and giving their best was what makes a true champion.

Many Room 18 students flew into the record books, including Manoa who won the Year 6 boys 100 and 400 metres events.

The day was a fantastic success which was topped off with a students versus teachers relay race. The students managed to win the race and confirm their place as true champions.

A sunny scientific experiment

The young scientists of Room 18 are continuing their awesome scientific investigation by finding out what is Sunsmart and how this affects them and those around them.

The students have been finding out about the sun, heat energy. To do this they have been conducting experiments such as placing cans coated in different coloured paper in the sun and measuring the water temperature before and after.

The students are beginning to use the scientific method to further understand the scientific process and see how they can investigate the world around them.

Science is simply away to understand the world around them and solve any problem.
