Room 18: Netball Skills Take Flight

Netball Skills Take Flight As Room 18 Shoots For Success!

Room 18 Takes Learning to The Next Level,

One More Time!

Ana and the Room 18 Band of Learners achieve 'Nothing But Net!'

Room 18 not only engaged but proudly jumped at the chance to take part in a weekly skills session with Netball NZ.

Together with netball instructor, Denise, the boys and girls of Room 18 took to the round-ball game with a passion. Learning not only the basics of our national women’s game, they also gained experience in teamwork, solidarity, and honed their athletic skills.

This endeavour brought out the best of the Year 6’ers and gave them another chance to show their potential.

Room 18 enjoyed the experience, and look forward to taking this experience to The Next Level!
Excellence!

Room 18 engaged, locked-down, and tuned-in to a celebration of Maoritanga!

Noted kapa haka performer and educator, Matua Karena, let loose with his taiaha and took Room 18 to the next level. Both boys and girls took part in what is to become a once-every-three-week cultural celebration and educational highlight.

Room 18 enjoyed the experience, thanked Matua Karena, and look forward to part two.

To be continued!

Room 18: Water Cycle Inquiry In Action

Water Cycle Inquiry

In Action

Room 18, along with the fantastic SPS new entrants of Room 1, took to the streets to discover what is really happening with their inquiry topic! The Panmure Basin changed from being a Mt Wellington recreational icon to a tool of educational and inspirational success.

Led by Mrs Shortt, Whaea Barb and Mr Cowlrick, the two classes walked from SPS to the Panmure Basin, looking out for the various elements of the water cycle that they could identify. The myriad of learning of experiences was too many to count.

The fantastic trip also allowed the students to use their Travelwise skills that they learnt in Term 1; staying safe on the trip to Panmure Basin and back.

The Room 1 five-year-olds were buddied-up with the Year 6 students of Room 18; giving Room 18 students an incredible opportunity to show leadership and be a role model. Room 18 took this opportunity and ran with it.
