Mrs Robinson gets ready to rock with Room 18

On Friday Room 18 tested their vocal chords to the limit. With Mrs Robinson and Mr Robinson showing good citizenship to come to school and use their time time for us. They played the instruments and guided Room 18 through the performance.

We did two performances. In the first we sang Samoan Skies with Mrs Robinson playing the acoustic guitar and Mr Robinson playing the electric guitar in the key of D. For our second song we sang Johnny B. Goode. You would have not believed the chords on the guitar! It was beyond compare. We even had people in Room 16 rocking an invisible guitar. We did a surprise third performance which was not just from Room 18, but all SPS, and it rocked it but the whole school.

On Friday Room 18 went up on stage to sing with Mrs Robinson and Mr Robinson.
It was fun and great to show the whole school how Room 18 rocks.

When I was in Year 1 Mrs Shortt asked me to go on stage in front of the whole school. I went on stage to read my story. But while I was reading the microphone turned off and everybody started laughing, so I was afraid to go on stage.

But on Friday when Room 18 went on stage and
it wasn't that bad after all! Since that day I now want to go on stage more often.

Jamming with Mr & Mrs Robinson!

It was cool when Mr Robinson played his guitar on stage. It was fun performing to the whole of SPS.

First we went on stage in front of everyone. The most amazing bit was singing to the audience with Mrs Robinson and I would like to do it again.

Room 18: Recount Writing continued!

ROOM 18’S INCREDIBLE
WRITING CONTINUES!

Room 18 has continued its focus on recount writing in Term 2, with some excellent results! Sililo’s recount is a very descriptive piece about his incredible adventure at Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater World. Read and enjoy!

GOING TO THE WONDERFUL KELLY TARLTONS

Have you ever seen the wonderful sea creatures of Kelly Tarlton’s? In the wonderful holidays me and my family went to see the most dangerous, most ferocious sea creatures of all, the amazing and most wonderful TIGER SHARK!

The first thing I went to see at Kelly Tarlton’s was the amazing cold blooded penguins. When we saw the penguin they were splashing water everywhere, even on me. Luckily I was wearing a very comfortable jumper. The jumper was as warm as a wooly coat.

Then we went to see the light orange sea horses. They looked so cool just like the awesomest rainbow I had ever seen in my entire life.  When we were about to go I saw the a little baby sea horse sleeping in the mothers pouch it looked just like a new born baby.

After that we went to see the beautiful kings of the sea, THE SHARKS. They looked like they were fake because they were floating still like they were dead, but when I looked at them again they were swimming as fast as a cheetah but twice the speed. It was cool because they were dashing through the water like it was the fastest thing in the world, even faster than light.

Then we got to see the wonderful short tailed stingrays. When we saw them they were gliding through the water like they were gliding through the sky like a bird that has finally released from its cage. Then out of that suspicious looking door, a man in a mysterious swimming suit came out and jumped into the tank of stingrays and had no fear of them. He was truly a man. Than he fed the stingrays with some kind of fish food, than he told us every single fact in a recount just like this one you are reading. He told it like he was a scientist.

The last thing we saw was the puffer fish. It had spikes like a porcupine and could blow up like a balloon but with water inside.

It was so cool. I’d love to come back to Kelly Tarlton’s to see more amazing sea creatures someday.

Room 18: 2014 - Ideas in Action

2014: The Year of Creative Writing in Room 18

This Term Room 18 kicks off the ‘uber blog’ with a recount written by Geshvin.
Enjoy the writing and the creativity.

Dolphin Watching

When dolphins swim across the water it makes boats seem slow. When we saw the dolphins they looked like cheetahs running at light speed. We couldn’t see them properly because of their dark skin but they were very fast.

Have you ever encountered a dolphin? First, when me and my family got on the boat and I wasn't interested. Not one bit of excitement. I was completely bored. Even though it was the the holidays I wasn’t very happy about going on the trip because I like to stay home.

Then the weather started to bother me. The sun was shining bright but the winds were as cold as a blizzard! We were at sea for a very long time and it was driving me crazy. I couldn’t stand the boredom.

When finally we saw the dolphins they were next to a neighbouring boat which was as tall as Mt. Everest! The dolphins were on the side of the boat. When they swam they were a streak of grey swimming across the water. One of them even jumped up and made a volcano of water! We took a lot  of pictures of them.

When we got home everyone thought that it was great. I thought it was ok. It was fun but I hope next time the dolphins show up sooner.
