The Room 18’ers once again got to find out how amazing the game of Australian Rules Football is when the NZ ambassadors of the game returned.

Champions of Fire!

This year’s athletics day at SPS allowed all SPS’ers to shine brightly as they all got to show off their enthusiasm and talent.

Students participated in the 100, 200 and 400 metre sprints, as well as events including shot put and discus. The students learnt that participating and giving their best was what makes a true champion.

A fantastic start!

Many Room 18 students flew into the record books, including Manoa who won the Year 6 boys 100 and 400 metres events.

The day was a fantastic success which was topped off with a students versus teachers relay race. The students managed to win the race and confirm their place as true champions.

A sunny scientific experiment

The young scientists of Room 18 are continuing their awesome scientific investigation by finding out what is Sunsmart and how this affects them and those around them.

The students have been finding out about the sun, heat energy. To do this they have been conducting experiments such as placing cans coated in different coloured paper in the sun and measuring the water temperature before and after.

The students are beginning to use the scientific method to further understand the scientific process and see how they can investigate the world around them.

Science is simply away to understand the world around them and solve any problem.

Room 18 continued its awesomeness with another example of sharing, caring and enjoying good times.

Scary and delicious!

Alyssa brought along some spooky, yet joy-filled cupcakes to share with all of her fellow awesome Room 18’ers. Both the vanilla and chocolate flavoured delicious mini-cakes were of extreme quality and set the tone for the day ahead.

Sela and Jordan also brought along enough spooky lollipops for the entire class.

All of Room 18 thanked the generous Alyssa, Jordan and Sela for their delicious treats. Halloween, like any occasion, became another day where students had the chance to express their team orientated thoughtfulness and their sharing-focused attitudes.

With the help of an excellent trainer the class is breaking new ground and learning new skills. Whilst keeping active and working together in a team atmosphere the Room 18’ers learning the skills that will help them in all areas of their learning.

 

Passing, running, and working together are all on the menu. Room 18’ers are taking up the challenge!
